The National Retail Federation released the results of a pre-holiday study that shows an expected 4.1% increase in the upcoming holiday sales.

The growth in online sales is expected to be drastically higher than the overall growth in retail sales for the holiday season and is expected to be between 8%-11% and to reach a total of $105 billion.

One of the most significant changes expected to happen in the upcoming holiday season is an increase in sales from mobile devices. This trend has already shown a rise of 48% in the 2nd quarter of 2014.

Online resources such as social media promotions are also expected to highly influence offline sales, leading to 50% of all offline in-store sales.
